'Peninsula' has been confirmed to be released this July 15 in South Korea.

Zombie movie fanatics, get your cash ready because Peninsula, the sequel film to the blockbuster Train to Busan, has finally set its release date.

According to reports by Soompi, Peninsula will set its premiere in South Korea on July 15.

The much-awaited sequel takes place four years after the events in Train to Busan and centers around a group of people who were left behind to fight for their lives in what was left in the country.

The upcoming zombie thriller will star Kang Dong-won, Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-hyo, Kim Min-jae, Goo Kyo-hwan, Kim Do-yoon, Lee Re, and Lee Ye-won.

Earlier this month, director Yeon Sang-ho and the main cast members held an online press conference to talk about the film and the effort made in topping the first movie.

According to Director Yeon Sang-ho, he has been planning Peninsula since the early stages of Train to Busan in the case that the first film went well.

Adding, “The amount of computer graphics used in this movie was at least twice as much as the first film.”

Actor Kang Dong-won, who plays the main character Jung Suk, confessed that he's been very eager to join the cast after seeing the first film.

He said, “As an actor, it can be burdensome to be in the follow-up story to a project with a predecessor. However, I didn't feel that way at all when I received the script.

“Since there hasn't been a Korean film that showed an apocalypse, I really wanted to do it.”

The actor also commented that despite the Cannes Film Festival being canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic he was proud to at least be invited to participate in the prestigious event.

He said, “Although the Cannes Film Festival didn't take place this year, I think of it as an honor. My friends who are abroad heard the great news and congratulated me because of it.”
